Leeds Building Society – UK Mortgage Lender
The Leeds and Holbeck (Permanent) Building Society was formally registered in 1875, although its origins date back to the Leeds Union Operative Land and Building Society which was founded in 1845. Following the takeover of the original Leeds Permanent Building Society by the Halifax in 1995 and the subsequent disappearance of that name from the high street, the Leeds and Holbeck Building Society changed its name, in 2005, to the more straightforward Leeds Building Society. It is the 8th largest building society in the UK.
The society has 70 branches in the UK, including 29 in Yorkshire, as well as an office in Gibraltar.
