The original forerunner of the Yorkshire Building Society was founded in 1864 at Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. Following a series of mergers, the Yorkshire Building Society was created in 1982. It is the fourth largest building society in the UK.
The society has 131 branches, located throughout the UK.

Having won lender of the year in 2005 and 2006, it is easy to see why the Yorkshire Building Society is rapidly becoming one of Britain’s most favoured suppliers of mortgages and related products. The Yorkshire Building Society prides itself in offering a range of products with no fees, making them an increasingly popular choice for both new borrowers and those looking to switch to a better rate.
As well as an extensive range of mortgages, the Yorkshire Building Society offers a large number of options in terms of savings and investments, including some that are linked to the mortgages themselves offering total flexibility.
The Yorkshire Building Society also offers credit cards that allow users to gain cash back against their mortgage on all purchases made using the credit card account. Other services include current accounts, loans and offshore accounts.
